As you read this, I am probably in a tent. Or perhaps nearby a tent. I am in close proximity to a tent.
Obviously, I am not writing this while in the tent*. Lack of signal and wi-fi is probably one of the reasons for this. Hopefully it is not because of weather, but I have a poncho, coat, and umbrella should things get too wet, a hat, scarf, and gloves should things get too cold, and fabulous sunglasses should things get too hot.
*This post was written two days before I left, from the comfort of my office, while I munched on a packet of biscuits.
What am I up to? Well, following my Community Death Educator course last month, I found myself invited to also do a course to become a fully trained Death/ End-of-Life Doula. The course will take a full year, and begins with a week-long retreat in West Wales.
What is a Death Doula? Well, it’s someone who supports people at end-of-life. This could be their own end of life, or someone close to them. I’ll be a guide for those moments. A hand to hold. Someone to put on a cup of tea and help with grief (and, as many of these big life moments have, paperwork).
My plan was to do Blogtober… but actually considering I will be training as a doula, a counsellor, and completing a Level 4 course in French (which is apparently equivalent to an A-level, for those UK-based readers), I’m not sure I have the space to blog every day. Still, I will try to keep my words a-flowing.
I will however, try to read as many other blogtober posts as possible, so please keep writing! I believe in you!
See you next time.
