Consistently consistent

Consistently consistent

It’s Monday! I’m trying out a new thing. All the wellbeing, mindfulness, self-help books and podcasts I am listening to at the moment scream at me that consistency is key to good mental health. So I’m going to try and be more consistent with this blog – posting every Monday.

(and, in theory, writing before that Monday, not on the day)

I can then post to my other blog* on Friday. Nice and consistent. If I want to post more than that, no problemo, but I should at least try and stick to the Monday thing.

*Of course I have another blog. It’s about learning French and can be found here.

So here is my first Monday post! And in the name of consistency, let’s talk about how I signed up to an online course and completely flunked out of it.

The course was called Plotstormers Lite and was hosted by Writers’ HQ. The idea was that I would use it to wrangle that annoying novel plot once and for all. I would grab the novel by the metaphorical horns*, stare it in the eye and say HEY STOP BEING SUCH A BOTHER AND MAKE SENSE.

*they don’t feel so metaphorical sometimes.

Then the illness struck and I completely lost track of everything. There’s a lot of random scribbling needed to get back on track – I’m only two weeks out of sync from a four week course – I can bring it back, right? Right?

Well, maybe, but my novel is being consistent in its crappiness at the moment. My characters have been standing around shrugging at me for too long. I’ve really got to figure this out.

I’m off to grab my pen.

See you next time!

I’m Rhi

I’m just a writer trying to live slower and be more observant of my feelings.

I am also a bit silly.

This blog is a mishmash of all that.
