Bloganuary #25: The blog is quiet

The blog is quiet. Sun streams through the windows. Golden beams, filled with particles of dust twinkling like tiny stars, shine onto a keyboard. The keyboard remains untouched. There is no click of the keys, no rhythmic clunk of the space bar. The backspace button, so enthusiastically tapped in the past, remains untapped. The blog is quiet. Where is the blogger?

Next to the keyboard is a mug. Navy blue, it’s insides are stained brown with the dregs of days-old coffee, dried and cracked. The mug has not moved for days. No fingers have delicately curled around its handle. It has not been brought up to lips, or cradled in palms. The call of ‘coffee time’ has not been sounded. The blog is quiet. Where is the blogger?

The days have passed. The sun has set. The moon has risen. Storms have come and passed. Rain has battered the windows. Hail. The sky-blue clock hanging on the off-white wall has ticked resolutely through every second. Through all this, the blog has been quiet. Where is the blogger?

Then finally, a groan. A sigh. A soft press of a button. The spin of a fan and a soft hum as a desktop tower powers up. The click of a mouse. The tap of the keyboard. A gentle cough. The blog is opened and there… there is the blogger.

I guess I wrote this small piece to let you all know that I’m still around. The illness knocked me out for longer than I thought it would. I’m not going to try and catch up with Bloganuary, and I’m not going to stress about it.

Hang in there all.

See you tomorrow.

I was wondering if you were ok! No stress needed – nice to have you back though ☺️

I’m Rhi

I’m just a writer trying to live slower and be more observant of my feelings.

I am also a bit silly.

This blog is a mishmash of all that.
