Bloganuary #18: Caught in the act

ALRIGHT, FINE. YOU CAUGHT ME.

My hands are up. It’s time to admit defeat and acknowledge my failings, so here I go.

Deep breath.

I have (once again) failed in my promise to not buy any more books until I have read the ones I have. This weekend in particular has been a bad one as I have somehow bought two books in the last two days.

How did it happen? I don’t know. It’s a complete mystery to me.

It might have something to do with all those bookshops I kept walking into, but CAN WE REALLY BE SURE? Perhaps the books were forced upon me by forces out of my control.

Yes, let’s say that. Books were forced upon me against my will. People will definitely believe that.

Anyway, the two most recent books I have acquired are:

Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain

And

Untamed: stop pleasing and start living by Glennon Doyle.

I am just drawn to the wellbeing and self-help sections of bookshops at the moment, what can I say? If you’ve followed this blog even a little bit, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that I am pretty set on self improvement.

I’m very excited to read these books…

BUT…

I’m not allowed to start them until I have finished my CURRENT book – Death Du Jour by Kathy Reichs. It’s one of the crime novels that inspired the Bones TV series*. I picked this copy up in a cafe for 50p.

*but alas, the book does not contain my favourite character from that series – Dr Sweets.

And none of these books are from the pile of books I made before Christmas next to my bed with the announcement that “I WILL READ ALL THESE BOOKS BEFORE I BUY ANOTHER ONE”.

Long, tired sigh.

I have a problem.

But, thankfully, that problem is not a lack of books.

See you tomorrow.

I’m Rhi

I’m just a writer trying to live slower and be more observant of my feelings.

I am also a bit silly.

This blog is a mishmash of all that.
