Bloganuary #9: Blank-screen-itis

Here is a picture of me sitting at my computer, staring whistfully at the screen as I desperately try to think of a topic for today’s blog:

I’m drinking peppermint tea, if you’re curious.

My computer is currently living its best life on the table in our living room because the office is too cold. It’s been nice to mix it up, but the fact I can see the fridge from where I am sitting is definitely not helping productivity.*

*Neither was having fingers so cold I couldn’t type, however, so I guess this is a swings and roundabouts situation.

I foolishly left it until after a long day of work, editing other people’s writing, to try and do a bit of writing myself. I know for a fact that I write better in the mornings, and yet here I am, sitting under the soft glow of the lights in the darkness of a winter evening, trying to pull ideas out of my already overheated brain.

Sometimes the blank-screen-itis hits and all you can do is stare and hope the screen fills up with words. It hasn’t happened yet, but I remain positive it will.

So naturally that has led to this post – a post about thinking about posts. How wonderfully meta*.

*no, not ‘Meta’ – I’m planning on deleting my Facebook and Instagram accounts once I can gather up the courage.

I hope you’re all doing well and staying warm. I think I’m going to turn off the computer and go look at the stars. At this time of year, it’s very easy to see Orion, and his very fasionable belt, from my bedroom window.

Assuming it isn’t raining.

It’s usually raining.

See you tomorrow.

I’m Rhi

I’m just a writer trying to live slower and be more observant of my feelings.

I am also a bit silly.

This blog is a mishmash of all that.
