Surprise!
Today’s spooky thing for Blogtober #5 is an ominous, disembodied voice talking to you from the beyond. And by the beyond, I mean ‘beyond whatever screen you are staring at when you read this blog’. That beyond. Not the great beyond. The normal beyond.
Of course, that whole introduction doesn’t make sense if you haven’t clicked on the play button at the top and realised that I have recorded this blog post as well as typed it up.
Ta-dah!
Yes, I have decided that occasionally I might record these things for two very important reasons:
- I love the sound of my own voice.
- I’ve always wanted a podcast and this is close as I can get at the moment. Podcasts require a lot of energy and forethought. I don’t have much energy. I don’t have much forethought. But I do have a microphone! So I’m using the microphone.
I could have put a third reason here about accessibility. I do hope that recording my posts makes my blog more accessible. But I am not confident enough in myself and my understanding of accessiblilty to know if that is actually true. So you get this rambling paragraph instead.
Is it a paragraph if I am reading it out loud?
I’m not sure. Does it matter? Probably not.
If you’re sitting there (or standing there? Or planking there? Whatever your preferred blog-consuming position is) and thinking, ‘Wait a minute, Richard. Nothing about this blog is even vaguely spooky. Are you just giving up on your Blogtober idea of posting something spooky every day already?’ – hey, I hear you. Let’s make this blog more spooky shall we?
Of course, if you’re just reading this, nothing will have changed, but I did start playing some royalty free ‘spooky’ music in the background. It is no doubt fantastic and really spookin’ up the place.
So don’t worry!
It may seem like I am flailing.
And, yes, it may seem like I didn’t quite realise how many days October had.
And perhaps you may think I am panicking, because I didn’t come up with enough ‘spooky’ blog topics before I started this challenge.
I can say with absolute certainty that this is categorically, one hundred percent, only slightly the case.
Blogtober is still going to happen. This train ain’t stopping. Just like that train at the start of one of the Casper the Friendly Ghost films. Remember that film? That is kind of spooky.
Maybe I should have blogged about that instead… oh well.
See you tomorrow!
