What is your mission?

I’m sitting at the table with my laptop, listening to the pattering footsteps of a seagull that has just landed on the roof. The seagull slips, sliding across tiles, feet scraping downward. There is a beating of wings. The bird takes off, only to land again in the same place a few minutes later.

I’m sitting at the table, listening to this, and at the same time I’m questioning my entire life plan.

I’m pretty good at multitasking.

I answered this prompt on my first Bloganuary post. Not on purpose, but it happened to be a prompt in my sentence-a-day diary as well. I had an easy answer then: I want to develop my portfolio and grow as a writer and artist.

Writing and drawing have always been a go-to for me when I feel sad, or bored, or lonely. Exploring stories, living them out in my mind, drawing cool things – it’s very therapeutic.

Sometimes I wonder if trying to turn my therapeutic process into a paying profession wasn’t the best move. Now what do I do when I feel sad or lonely or bored – more work? No thank you!

The seagull has left now. It’s been replaced by a pigeon. I can hear its soft coo coo from above me.

Coo coo says the pigeon. Coo coo, you’re overthinking it again, Richard. You can do things that bring you joy and make money from them coo coo. Also, do you have any bread? Coo coo.

My mission:

To develop my writing and artistic portfolio. To connect with other practitioners. To share and enjoy art.

My second mission:

To stop doubting. It isn’t helping.

My third mission:

Find bread for the pigeon, I guess?

I’m Rhi

I’m just a writer trying to live slower and be more observant of my feelings.

I am also a bit silly.

This blog is a mishmash of all that.
