Pausing with potatoes

Pausing with potatoes

I’m sitting at Hereford train station with two potatoes. I’ve been informed that one is for growing jacket potatoes, and the other is for new potatoes. Each has to be planted and treated slightly differently. I have forgotten which potato is which. They are both brown blobs, sitting in half an egg carton.

It’s one of those days where you can’t move fast even if you want to. Fires by Manchester and by Cardiff, on either end of the train line, have left me waiting for a train which is delayed by one minute further every time I look at the sign. It was meant to leave 15 minutes ago. The train is now due to arrive in 17 minutes.

I suppose I could be angry. I could say something about the state of the British train service! I’m not really feeling that way today though. It’s sunny and warm, which is a big help. I have the Terry Pratchett book Witches Abroad on audiobook being performed in my ears and it’s making me smile.

Sunshine

I try to take these moments as small gifts. Moments where I can do what I am best at: sitting and thinking. Sitting and experiencing. No anxiety. No worry.

My train will arrive soon and I’m okay with waiting.

Seven minutes.

Oh wait. Eight now.

See you next time.

I’m Rhi

I’m just a writer trying to live slower and be more observant of my feelings.

I am also a bit silly.

This blog is a mishmash of all that.
