Celebrating life to balance out the death talk

My last few posts have been very death and grief heavy. I thought I would balance it out with a few photos I took of my life from previous week with little stories along side them. Enjoy!

Morning wandering

I was walking into town one morning and paused to watch the sun rising over this construction in progress. These buildings have been slowly going up as I have been studying counselling over the last year. I pass them almost every day and find they catch my eye every time.

Are they beautiful? Are they ugly? My opinion changes as frequently as the Welsh weather. On that morning though, I definitely felt more beauty than ugliness.

Overthinking

This cushion caught my eye and made me laugh. Especially as earlier that morning, Julie had asked me if I wanted to see a film in the evening and I had replied (after a long, thoughtful pause), “I’ll let you know later.”

Overthinking is definitely my specialty!

All change

A sneaky picture through a gap in a fence. What you are looking at used to be a large department store before the pandemic when it closed down. All three floors have sat completely empty for a few years and now it has turned into a construction site. This area used to be enclosed inside the shop, and it looks like they have torn down all the outer walls. For what? Well that remains to be seen…

Fingers crossed for some kind of swimming pool/ theme park combination!

Another puzzle

Ah ha! You thought I had stopped doing puzzles after I posted a few times about them in Bloganuary, didn’t you?

Well jokes on you! Julie and I (mostly Julie, to be fair) recently completed another one. This puzzle was about French cheese and came with not only a poster of the puzzle inside the box, but also a stand to hold up the box lid AND some recipes for cheese-based French snacks. Watch this space for when I try to make one next week…

Burnt out bike

This was a surprise to stumble upon this morning during my run – a completely burnt bike left in the park. A sad, and a bit grim, scene which made the (often neglected) crime writer inside me get all overexcited. Why was it there? Who set it on fire? Was it an accident, or disposal of evidence? I had to snap a picture for potential writing inspiration later.

(I have been watching a lot of crime shows recently. Can you tell?)

What do you think? Does it inspire any stories for you?

Anyway, there are a few images to show that I don’t just dwell on death all the time!

Just most of the time.

I hope you have had a good weekend and I wish you an exciting next week!

See you tomorrow.

I’m Rhi

I’m just a writer trying to live slower and be more observant of my feelings.

I am also a bit silly.

This blog is a mishmash of all that.
