What is the greatest gift someone could give you?
“You’re really easy to buy gifts for,” is something that has been said to me multiple times. It’s true. If you have ever walked through town with me, or talked to me for any length of time, I’ve probably said: ‘I really want X’ or ‘wouldn’t it be great if we could use Y?’
I’m very materialistic at the heart of it all. I love stuff and things. My cluttered desk speaks for itself on this matter.
But I can also guarantee that if you buy me a gift, I will feel guilty about receiving it. The idea that you have spent time and money on me doesn’t sit well in my mind. Low self-esteem does that kind of thing.
At this precise moment, I think the greatest gift someone could give me is a working Eurostar and a smooth journey home. I’m getting updated reports from my family back in the UK about the storms and the flooding – the town where I grew up is basically a big lake right now.
After multiple weeks away from home, I would love for an uneventful journey back and to be able to lie in my own bed tonight. Is that asking too much? Maybe.
Wish me luck!
