The apartment was too hot and the walls felt like they were closing in around me. Acting on impulse, I grabbed my coat and set off into the streets of Paris, picking a random direction and walking. The cool air and lack of purpose felt freeing as I wandered through the little streets, dodging cars and passing shops. I paused in a small park and watched people walk by, going about their day. For the briefest of moments I felt part of the beating heart of the city. I was just one more person in a million, moving around the streets, giving this city life.
With hindsight, a lot of these feelings were probably just early symptoms of the flu I have now! Looking forward to being able to walk again without having to sit down and recover every few steps.
